Siamsa Tíre seeking to appoint an Executive Director

The Chairman, Pat Dawson and the Board of SIAMSA TÍRE announce that they seek to appoint an Executive Director for Siamsa Tíre - Home to the National Folk Theatre of Ireland ( The successful candidate will lead and manage the organisation’s development and operations over the next five years. This position has become available as the current CEO, Catríona Fallon, will stand down from her role at the end of April 2019, but will remain with the organisation in a part-time capacity curating their visual arts programme. 

Siamsa Tíre (based in Tralee, Co Kerry) is an arts organisation of over 40 years standing and comprises a theatre production company, a venue which functions as a producing and receiving theatre for the performing arts, visual arts gallery spaces, and two small venues (Tithe Siamsa) in Finuge and Carraig. Candidates require experience in senior management and in creative arts programming. This is a stimulating role that combines creative programming with executive leadership in a nationally significant cultural organisation.

Catríona Fallon joined Siamsa Tíre in 2004 as the Assistant General Manager and has led the organisation since the departure of Karl Wallace in 2013. She was officially appointed CEO in 2016.  Catríona is a native of West Wicklow, now living with her family near Dingle. She has an extensive background in the arts having previously worked with Graphic Studio Gallery (Dublin), the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge and with the Killarney Summerfest. Catriona introduced the Greening Siamsa Strategy to the company and has led the organisation to become the first venue in Ireland to achieve Green Certification. She hopes to continue investigating opportunities related to the environment within the arts sector.

Siamsa Tíre, Home to the National Folk Theatre of Ireland is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is a registered charity. The Executive Director will be responsible for programming, for developing and implementing strategy with the Board, for managing governance and compliance, for managing staff and for the effective management of Siamsa Tíre’s facilities in line with financial and operational plans. The Executive Director will work with the Artistic Director of the National Folk Theatre to support and further its development.  Siamsa Tíre, Home to the National Folk Theatre of Ireland is Ireland’s first Green Theatre and the Executive Director will lead our staff in continuing to embed good practice in sustainability across all aspects of the organisation’s business.
