Boundaries – Real and Imagined: Dec 2019-Feb 2020

Exhibition

Siamsa Tíre’s annual open submission exhibition this year invites artists to work on the medium of paper..

In September 2019, Siamsa Tíre invited artists in the South West of Ireland to take part in our annual Open Submission exhibition.  This year’s theme was, Boundaries – Real and Imagined and the final exhibition (which opened on the 13th of December) was selected from the artworks submitted by artist and curator, Sharon Murphy.

Participating artists responded enthusiastically, producing an impressive range of artworks across a wide variety of media: acrylic, watercolour, print, mixed media – all on paper.  There was a great array of approaches to the theme and the works spanned a range of styles from representational to expressionistic to abstract.

Boundaries: Real and Imagined is the third in a series of Open Submission Exhibitions hosted by Siamsa Tíre.  This exhibition gives local artists, both experienced and emerging, an opportunity to exhibit their work.  Previous exhibitions in this series (Changing Times in 2017, and Lost Things in 2018) generated considerable interest amongst artists and audiences, encouraging artists to create something new and exciting in responding to the brief.

Siamsa Tíre would like to thank all of those who submitted to this exhibition.
