Siamsa Tíre

Towards a Sustainable Practice

Towards a Sustainable Practice

With Zoë Uí Fhaoláin Green and Lisa Fingelton

Tickets FREE - but must be booked in advance on 066) 7123055

Suitable for all disciplines, this event invites artists to come together and collaborate on ways in which our creative practice can become more sustainable.

We invite Kerry-based artists of all disciplines to come together at Siamsa Tíre to discuss and explore how we are adapting our practices to the changing planet, how we see the role of the artist in tackling Climate Change, and what more we can do to support each other to take positive action.

  • Visual Arts Curator, Catríona Fallon will take us on a tour of the building explaining the Greening Siamsa initiative.
  • Artist and grower, Lisa Fingleton will tell us about her practice and her 30 Day Local Food Challenge – where she, and others, eat only locally produced food for 30 days.
  • Our artist-in-residence, Zoë Uí Fhaoláin Green will tell us what she has learned from researching this year’s residency brief, ‘A Question of Degree: Climate Change in Coastal Communities’ and will invite participation in the activities in the gallery.

With the help of tea and cake we will take time in groups to discuss and make plans, such as setting up a materials share.

This is a free event, but you must register through the Siamsa Tíre box office on: 0667123055.  We would also like to help facilitate car-pooling and use of public transport to get to the event – please let us know where you will be travelling from when you book your place and whether you are interested in car-pooling.

Workshop Duration: 3hrs
