FRUITION
Annual Showcase of work by Art Students in Tralee Community College

'Fruition' is the culmination of a year's exploration in art by students of Tralee Community College. The work on exhibition forms the basis of their FETAC Level 5 Examination as well as a portfolio for entry to art college. The work in the show reflects the development of core observational skills through drawing and painting as well as the opportunity to explore expressive, conceptual and issue based work which deals with themes as diverse as consumerism, relationships and childhood. The 'Class of 08' has produced an exciting exhibition and the show is an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Presented in association Kerry Education Service.

BY A CROW'S STEP
New Work by Juilet McElligot

Earth, sea and sky - the natural elements in all their glory - are the focus of this exhibition of painting by Juilet McElligot. The work links emotion and memory with changes in the weather , using the moods of nature - from the the uneasiness of an impending storm to the laziness of a sunny day - as metaphors for emotional and spiritual states. Juilet McElligot's painting describes subtle shifts in light and atomshere that are no more than 'a crow's step,' moments in time that pass in the blink of an eye. A graduate of the Crawford College of Art and Design, Juilet McElligot lives and works in Tralee, Co Kerry

TRALEE ART GROUP

The Tralee Art Group's Summer Exhibition once more coincides with the rose of Tralee Festival, an association with which the group is delighted. Both are traditional festivals featuring colour, the celebration of beauty, and popular accessibility. The landscapes and paintings of local places, for which the group are well known, appeal to residents and tourists alike, many finding their way to America and beyond. As the years go by the group becomes more adventurous, and the scope and variety of media, subject matter and approach increase. Expect a lively and enjoyable display.

Jim Lee has been a photographer for 20 years. This exhibition features innovative digital photography and showcases the creative potential and control it offers contemporary landscape photographers. His particular interest is in capturing the beauty of the Kerry landscape. Much of his work is concerned with the interaction between the constantly changing light, weather & seasons typical of the west coast of Ireland and the natural features of the county - the sea, mountains & lakes.

KERRY - A WAY OF LIFE
An exhibition of photography by Gail Tangney McCarthy and Pat Fleming

Kerry, since time began, has enjoyed a reputation as a King among Princes. Our landscape, our character, our vernacular, our sporting culture, our traditions, our people and, of course, our modesty are unique to within our Kingdom boundaries. Our exhibition documents and celebrates what it is to be of Kerry and proves that, as a people, we live Kerry as a way of life.

Gail Tangney McCarthy is a native of Tralee and can't remember a time when she didn't take photographs. She is driven to record what surrounds her, before it is lost to change. She takes her inspiration from Patrick Kavanagh's view of seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Pat Fleming, a native of Killarney, has been photographing Kerry since the early 1990s. His work has featured in the exhibition "Exploring The Alphabet" - 2007, magazines and even a book cover for American novelist Marcella O Connor.
