THE HAUNTING OF HELENA BLUNDEN
Big Telly Theatre Company

A doorway. A stairwell. A story. Two women: one desperate to cross over the threshold: the other desperate to escape.

What is it on the other side that makes eighty-year-old Maggie want so badly to go in? What is it that has terrified Susan into packing up and leaving? And why does the story of the mysterious Helena Blunden still hold them both there? This is thriller, ghost story, musical. Set in modern Belfast in a converted linen mill it has more twists and turns than the yarn winding its way round the spindle. Just when you think it's time to relax, sit back and breathe easy, the breath is knocked right out of you.

Big Telly Theatre Company was formed in 1987. It concentrates on the visual potential of theatre through fusion with other art forms such as dance, music, circus, magic and film to create a unique sense of spectacle.

Barabbas presents
JOHNNY PATTERSON, THE SINGING IRISH CLOWN
By Little John Nee

This powerful new show directed by Raymond Keane is an homage to the forgotten genius and extraordinary life of circus performer Johnny Patterson from Co. Clare, known as "The Singing Irish Clown." Although his story may have been forgotten many of his hit songs can still be heard today such as The Garden Where the Praties Grow, Goodbye Johnny Dear or The Stone Outside Dan Murphy's Door.

Johnny Patterson's unique talents saw him head-hunted from a regional touring circus by the world famous Cooper and Bailey. He "said goodbye to his beloved wife and family and headed for Amerikay" where he went on to become one of the highest paid entertainers of his time and amassed huge wealth through royalties from his hit songs.

With Little John Nee's characteristically easy mix of humour, poignancy and lyricism, this beautiful new show throws light on the captivating magic and the harsh reality of a life devoted to performance and entertainment.
Suitable for 12 years and older.

'Spellbinding tale of a folk hero's life...a thoroughly engaging, sprightly and poignant piece of theatre.' (Sunday Business Post)

'Mesmerising. Enchanting. Magical. Touching. Ingenius. Innovative. Quirky. Endearing. Experimental. Different and highly imaginative. All words that appropriately describe Barabbas' latest theatrical offering.' (Irish Theatre Magazine)
