Siamsa Tire is offers a talks and workshops programme for those interested in the visual arts. Some of the events are free and other reasonably priced, so now there are different ways of finding out more about art practice and even taking part yourself.
 
JANUARY
Phil Toledano  - Artist Talk – Saturday 28th – 3pm

Through a Lens – Artist Phil Toledano talks (via skype) about his work Days with my Father, a live link between New York and Tralee will be set up for an hour of lively chat and debate with the artist. 
 
FEBRUARY
Clay Workshops for Schools – Susan Hitching
€3 per student - ages 6-10 years
Monday: 20 & 27  10am -12 noon
Wednesday: 22 & 29 12 noon – 2pm
Clay Making with Susan Hitching is a fun two hour workshop which introduces children to basic hand built pottery techniques and the endless creative possibilities of working with clay. Children will learn how to make a basic vessel, model and decorate clay and join clay using slip all part of a workshop exploring the theme of ‘Portraits’.
Children should bring an apron (dad’s old shirt), a small box for transportation of art-work and a snack for a break.

National Gallery of Ireland – Lecture/Talk
FREE EVENT
Education and Outreach Curator, Brina Casey introduces the exhibition Drawing: A Case Study and talks through the processes and approach to the collection. The lecture will also include a more in depth look at the National Gallery Collection highlights.

Tocht Festival of Dance Artist in Residence Susan Hitching gives a presentation and talk on her process of sketching and working with dancers over the course of 8 weeks. Susan is a sculptor by profession whose love of dance has inspired her practice. Susan will present some of her current research and past work as part of the programme.
