Summer Artist Residency will engage with National Folk Theatre of Ireland to mark 50 years of performances
Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland has announced an opportunity for all practicing visual artists to apply for a residency engaging with the National Folk Theatre to mark the 50th anniversary of its first performance. Proposals are required for the residency by Friday 18th May and the residency will be undertaken in Siamsa Tíre’s building in Tralee from the 25th June to the 16th of September 2018.
As part of the residency, the selected artist will be invited to respond creatively to the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, engaging with others working in the building, particularly the members of the performing company. There will be a level of public engagement as part of the residency, the details of which will be mutually agreed with the successful candidate.
Applicants will need to send an artist Curriculum Vitae, up to six images of their work and or links of up to two video works (if applicable) along with a brief residency proposal outlining how they feel the residency would benefit them as an artist and how they propose to work with the National Folk Theatre. The chosen artist will be invited to use one of the gallery spaces as working studios and will also have access to office space. The residency does not include accommodation as part of the award. Applicants living far from Tralee will need to organise their own accommodation if their application is successful.
