This is an opportunity for visual artists to take a closer look at the work of the National Folk Theatre.
Siamsa Tíre, home to The National Folk Theatre of Ireland, is seeking proposals from visual artists to undertake a residency in its theatre building in Tralee from the 19th of June to the 19th of August 2017. As part of the residency, the selected artist will be invited to respond creatively to the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, engaging with others working in the building, particularly the members of the performing company. There will be a level of public engagement as part of the residency, the details of which will be mutually agreed with the successful candidate.
The chosen artist will be invited to use two of the gallery spaces as working studios and will also have access to office space. A fee of €2,500 will be provided, along with a materials stipend of €500.
Note: This residency does not include accommodation as part of the award. Applicants living far from Tralee will need to organise their own accommodation if their application is successful.
Access to the space will be from 9am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday (the artist would be asked to spend a minimum of 15 hours resident in the theatre building in any given week).
The successful applicant should be fluent in English.
How to Apply:
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following:
- An Artist’s CV
- Up to six images of your work and/or links to up to two video works (if applicable)
- A brief residency proposal (max 300 words) outlining how you feel the residency would benefit you as an artist, and how you would hope to engage with the work of the National Folk Theatre.
Please Note: Feedback will not be provided for unsuccessful applications.
The deadline for applications is Friday 31st of May
