Adam Gibney was the recipient of the 2012 Siamsa Tíre Emerging Artist Award.
His recent work investigates technology’s effect on our surroundings and reality. Through installations that both rely on and question technology, his work highlights in a playful manner the dark undertones that exist in our technological landscape. With the growth of mass–production and the media, objects have developed a reliability on technology to define their function and value. In his installation for Siamsa Tíre, Adam explored an opportunity to correct technological mishaps.
Adam graduated from the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) with a first class honours degree. His Solo Exhibitions include Limbo-Excavated, Irish Museum of Contemporary Art, Dublin, and Selected Group Exhibitions include, Around a Volta, Chateau de Servieres, Marseille, Invite or Reject, C4 Gallery, Los Angeles; An Instructional, The Lewis Art Gallery, Jackson, Mississippi; Stattbad Wedding, Berlin Space, Bratislava, Slovakia and renowned arts collective ‘Shunt’ in London.
