Indulge in a season of Schubert! This is the final in the Schubert Sessions concert series under the artistic direction of concert pianist Fionnuala Moynihan.
In 1827 Schubert composed some of his most iconic and celebrated compositions. Dr. Fionnuala Moynihan felt it would be a wonderful project to perform these works in a concert series. The compositions include the much-loved Impromptus D.899 and D.935 for solo piano, the monumental song cycle Winterreise for voice and piano and the celebrated Piano Trios op.99 and op.100 for piano, violin and cello. Fionnuala’s goal to perform all five of these treasured works in one concert series has become a reality due to the inspirational support and enthusiasm of the prestigious Siamsa Tíre and the kind support of the Arts Council of Ireland.
The series consists of three full-length recitals of which this is the final in the season. This afternoon’s concert will include both piano trios performed by violinist Mia Cooper (leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra), Ailbhe McDonagh (celebrated soloist and chamber musician) and internationally acclaimed concert pianist Dr. Fionnuala Moynihan.
Schubert’s compositional style is lyrical, intriguing, virtuosic, inspirational and uplifting. It is a concert series not to be missed. Featuring Ireland’s most celebrated performers in one of Ireland’s most iconic and beautiful concert venues this series promises to be one of the highlights of the concert season.
Please Note: This concert has been scheduled as an afternoon performance to facilitate students and those wishing to travel during daylight hours.
