Siamsa Tíre

Siamsa Tíre’s Programming Policy

Siamsa Tire has three principal programme areas. These are: Theatre Programming, The National Folk Theatre, and Visual Arts.

As part of its annual schedule, the National Folk Theatre delivers a repertory season, or ‘Festival of Folk’, from May to September.  The venue does not usually programme visiting work at this time and the visual arts spaces also reflect the history and work of the National Folk Theatre during the festival period.

The National Folk Theatre produces work which nurtures and explores Folk and the Traditional Arts. Productions are produced by the resident professional company for inclusion in the Summer Repertoire or for National and International touring.

The company does not accept submissions for programming but welcomes approaches from professional practitioners seeking to collaborate. All enquiries regarding working with the National Folk Theatre should be addressed to the Artistic Director of the NFT, Jonathan Kelliher. You can contact Jonathan by email: jonathan@siamsatire.com

Further information on the National Folk Theatre can be found here

Theatre Programme: Siamsa Tíre aims to support professional artists and to offer opportunities for members of the public, both local and visiting, to engage with and participate in the arts across a wide variety of artforms.

From October to April, the theatre receives and hosts productions and workshops in Drama, Dance, Music, Opera, Comedy, Traditional Arts and Literature.  The Theatre programmes six to 12 months on a variety of terms – Box Office Split, Guarantee, Guarantee / Split and Theatre Rental. Contact the General Manager here for further information or download information on Hiring The Theatre.

Visual Arts: The Gallery has a particular interest in the resonance between folk culture and contemporary visual culture as well as supporting local artists. The supports include material grants, residencies, part-time employment and fees. For full information on our Visual Arts programming and how to apply to exhibit at Siamsa Tíre, please check out our Visual Arts pages here
